In a post-apocalyptic world, the Magistrate rules everything. Thoughts are monitored. Dreaming is not allowed.

 

As “lost children” of the Great War, three friends – Kristina, Amber, and William – grow up in an orphanage under the watchful eyes of the Magistrate. Kristina embraces the Magistrate, graduating at the top of her class. Amber prefers to live in the present, finding cause for celebration in any moment. William becomes the official Magistrate storyteller and  is not-so-secretly in love with Kristina.

Their lives shift after a series of unexpected, middle-of-the-night visits by a mysterious old woman. With his concept of reality unraveling, William’s experience threatens the carefully-constructed Magistrate belief system, placing his life in jeopardy. Kristina faces a difficult choice: to believe and trust her lifelong friend, or honor her sworn duty to the Magistrate.
